1. Students create may either take a
sentence from Sword in the Stone or create their own Sword in the Stone inspired
sentence and write it on one half of a paper. On the OTHER half of the paper students
will write the sentence INCORRECTLY with errors. Students should inlcude 6-10 errors that
inlcude at least one of each of the following error types:
-capitilization erors
-end punctuation
-verb tense
-spelling
-words commonly used

Today I collected Ex.
9-12 and Ex. 13-15 along with their Study Guide for Words Often Confused.
Students were also giving credit for following written directions
on the board. The following was
written on the board:
If you: copy your agenda, put your HW in the left
corner of the desk, clear your desk except for a pen, sit quietly with hand
folded on the desk,
Then: you get extra credit.
I personally walked
around the room and checked to see if ALL instructions were followed. Those students were given the extra
credit. I will occasionally give
these directions as a REGULAR CLASS GRADE.
Students have been told from the first day of school to always read
the board and do their best to follow the directions written their.

2. The AR Competition is an ongoing reading
incentive program. Students read any
books on “The List” (click HERE to see

associated with it. These
points count towards extra credit in the
class. Students will
also be competing for prizes in other categories (Most points, Most
